Alan David Janda

Mass of Christian Burial for Alan David Janda, 51, will be on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North Street, Chardon (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Mr. Janda died on Thursday at home surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

Al was born on October 18, 1960 and spent his entire life in the Chardon area. He graduated from Chardon High School and attended The University of Akron and Lakeland Community College. Al was currently employed at Quadrel Labeling Systems for the past 18 years. He was a very intelligent and gifted man who had a great love for all things related to engineering, and derived great satisfaction from tinkering, repairing constructing and problem-solving. Of course, all know that Al was most happy when flying (or working on) one of the many remote-controlled airplanes he had meticulously constructed in his basement workshop. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered as a kind and gentle soul who always had time for his family and friends, offering love and assistance to all who needed him.

He will be greatly missed and loved by his parents Katie (nee Miller) and Bob Janda; brother Bill (Elaine) Janda, sisters Martha (Ken) Bruening and Sue (Chris) Bulzan; nephews Ryan, Aaron and Scott Bulzan, Matthew, Benjamin and Nicholas Bruening, Kevin Lose, and nieces Ashley and Heather Janda, Katie-Lynn and Elise Bruening and Amber Clifton; Al was the dear nephew and cousin of many

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Al at St. Mary Church from 9:00 AM until time of the Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the Mass in All Souls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Al’s memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve 17876 St. Clair Ave. Cleveland, OH 44110. Arrangements entrusted to The DeJohn Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro). Online obituary & guestbook at

  2. Karen (Miller) Terry :

I am so sorry that I was unable to attend Alan’s service. It has been a very long time since I have seen Alan, but I still remember him and all of you very well from when I was a child. I enjoyed all the time I spent with you and you have all made a difference in my life. Please know that the family in Tennessee still thinks of you often and you are all in our prayers.
    Love to all,
    (Dan’s daughter)
