Ann was my friend of 54 years, when we were students together at Ursuline. She was one special lady, a renaissance woman, who could talk to anyone about anything. She was a great listener and a special friend. We will miss her smile and sarcasm :). May she rest in peace with God.

  8. Dotty and Harry Hanna

Your wife, mother, sister and friend loved life to the fullest. It was an honor to have her as an extended family member. May God hold her in the palm of his hand.

  10. Josie Staric Dimengo

My deepest sympathy to you, John and your children. Ann was always so full of life and always smiling. Find solace that she is with our Lord and looking down on you from heaven. She is your new angelček.

  11. Since retiring 12 yrs ago, the one comment I’ve consistently made is that I miss the people, not the work. This is the perfect example of that. Ann will be sadly missed for certain, but wonderfully remembered even more. I thank God for the gift of having known Ann and her family. You are always in my prayers.

  12. Annie, I am so grateful to you for sharing your talents with St. Vitus. From the beautiful banners you made, Fr. Joe’s altar cloth, the making of new clothes for the Infant of Prague, the repair of the canopy for Easter Procession and the beautiful pictures you always took of the church and of course the prettiest Chinese raffle gifts and tags that went with them for our annual parish picnic. You were so very talented but never bragged about it. I also will cherish the exceptional wit you had. It always seemed so effortless. Thank you for allowing me to be your friend. I will never forget you. Rest In Peace.

  13. As a coworker of Ann’s at DFAS, I have such great memories of her, such a wonderful lady! I’m privileged to have known her and am so sad about her passing. God bless you during this difficult time.

Zakelj Family, Hold on to your memories and let them guide you during this time of sadness. I remember the last time I saw Ann, it was on pristava last summer for a function and she was in a rush to leave the house, in her hast she forgot her camera. She said that she felt lost without it, as if she were missing an arm. Now we will all be missing her.

  18. What a loss for your family and all of Ann’s friends. She was such a fun person to be with, always upbeat and terribly amusing. My heart goes out to
    the whole Zakelj family.

  19. My thoughts are with you all. What a wonderful privilege it was to know Ann. A bright star. She will be forever missed.

  20. Annie was one of the people at the NFC that made coming to work enjoyable. I was lucky enough to reconnect with Annie when a few of us held a reunion of old NFC mates. Annie had not changed and was her wonderous self. She will be greatly missed by family and friends and entire Slovenian community.

  21. Jamie, Peter, Theo & Eva
