Archie MacKinney was born on August 16, 1929 and went home to glory on October 16, 2019. He received his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College (IL) in 1951 and his medical degree from Rochester University (NY) in 1955, launching a long and fruitful career as a professor of medicine and hematology. He was a prodigious rock collector, a fine woodworker, and could join a folk music jam session or a hymn sing on any one of a dozen different instruments. To know Archie was to know his love of knowledge and deep discussion, but most of all his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Bible. Archie devoted his life to the study and teaching of the Word of God. During their 50+ years in Madison, WI, he and Shirley had a steady stream of students through their home, mentoring countless young people into the joy of the gospel. Archie’s family and loved ones grieve while rejoicing in the consummation of his hope, echoed by the song frequently on his lips for the past weeks: “In the cross, in the cross be my glory ever; ‘til my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river.”
