BETTY L. MOHNEY (nee Balser) age 90, beloved wife for 45 years of the late Kenneth Glenn; loving mother of Donald and Karen Mohney Orf (husband Randy); devoted grandmother of Caitlin and Joshua Orf and great-grandmother of Martin James Roberts and Daniel Edward Lingerfelt; cherished daughter of the late Jesse and Lenore (nee Lawson) Balser; dearest sister of the late Walter (Barbara) and sister-in-law of Billie Mohney.
Betty was born on March 6, 1932, in Spencer, West Virginia, where she graduated from Spencer High School. Upon moving to Chardon, Ohio, where she lived in the area for 35 years before moving to Florida with Kenneth for 15 years. A queen of Chardon, she was beyond gracious and was the biggest social butterfly; she never met a stranger. Working at Bostwick’s and Peebles department stores allowed her to meet many friends. Her genuine care and poise were something young girls could look up to, especially with her involvement as the Mother Advisor of Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed being a member of Chardon United Methodist Church. Betty was an active member of the Chardon VFW Auxiliary and Urania Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, of Painesville. After her time spent in Florida Betty moved back to Chardon where she remained a resident for the past 17 years. She relished in the time she was able to spend enjoying a great meal or conversation with her family and friends. She was so happy to be promoted to GiGi. On November 26, 2022, Betty passed away leaving that bright spot in everyone’s life feeling a little less dim until the day they meet again.
Contributions may be made in memory of Betty to the Chardon V.F.W. or to Chardon United Methodist Church.
