CHARLES WILLIAM “BILL” PALMER, aged 74 years, beloved husband of Alice (nee Scesny), dear father of Halle Timpson, Charles Robert “Rob” (Devin) and Chryssa Hudson (T.C.), loving grandfather of Emily Deatherage (Adam), Caroline Timpson, Colin, Lily and Caleb Palmer, Liam Mering, Taylor, Camryn and Evelyn Hudson, cherished brother of Pat VanWye, fond uncle and great-uncle. United States Navy Veteran. Burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
Bill was a native of northeast Ohio and a graduate of Firelands High School in Amherst (and stayed in touch with his dear classmates all these years). He served nine years in the U.S. Navy and saw the world, living in Morocco, London Florida and the District Of Washington during his time in the military. After his service he earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. For many years, he co-owned and operated the Cranberry Restaurant in Indian Lake, Ohio. He was often on the road, both as a commercial truck driver and, until more than a year ago, a dedicated Uber driver who earned a stellar 4.9 star rating.
Bill was loved by all for his wonderful friendly spirit, wicked sense of humor and his acceptance of everyone. He was always the first person to step up and help others who needed a hand. He adored his children and grandchildren and was proud of them and their accomplishments. And he loved his wife with all of his heart. As Bill would say, he had a great run.
In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to Menorah Park, 27100 Cedar Rd., Beachwood, OH 44122. Family will receive friends to celebrate the life of Bill at Acacia Reservation, 26899 Cedar Rd., Lyndhurst (44124) on Monday, Sept. 30, 2019 from 2 PM UNTIL CONCLUDING PRAYER SERVICE AT 3:45 PM.

My condolences to Bill’s family. Bill was a classmate at Firelands. We played basketball together and also sang in a quartet together, he was a great bass. Bill was a great friend for many years and will be missed every time our class gets together. I wish I could get to Ohio for his services.
