CHERYL LYNN MOONE (nee Hartschuh) age 63, beloved wife for 41 years of Keith; loving mother of Chad (wife Jennifer), Craig (wife Jamie), and Cristin Smith (husband Rich); devoted grandmother of Parker, Caden, Tyler, and Riley Moone, Maeci and Ellie Smith; cherished daughter of Dorothy (nee King) and the late Harold Hartschuh; dearest sister of Linda, Jim (wife Mary), Carl, and Mark Hartschuh (wife Nicole); dear sister-in-law, aunt and great-aunt of many. Cheryl is survived by many horses, dogs, cats, chickens and bees.
Cheryl was born September 20, 1957 in Willard, Ohio and died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on February 6, 2021. She lived in Chagrin Falls for the past 27 years and prior to that she spent 8 years in Racine, Wisconsin. She graduated from Willard High School in 1975 and Wittenberg University in 1979. At Wittenberg she earned a degree in Health and Physical Education, was a cheerleader and met her husband.
Cheryl operated her own business working as a fitness instructor for her loved seniors at Orange Senior Center. She partnered with her husband and children to start and build a successful business, Nature’s Way Bird Products, manufacturing wild bird feeders. She was a member of the Ohio Horseman’s Club, Riders Express 4H, the City of Orange Senior Center and Ohio Beekeepers. She enjoyed riding horses, gardening, cooking and baking, beekeeping, and sewing. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and making sure they were all happy and fulfilled.
Chery is remembered as a devoted wife and partner, a loving mother, and an unforgettable grandmother. She taught her family to enjoy the outdoors, how to care for plants and animals, and how to swim. Above all, she showed us how to be comfortable simply being yourself. She was a nurturer of passions, giving her children the confidence to pursue what they loved and whose own passion was to find the ways to help others smile.
In lieu of flowers, and in the memory of Cheryl, her wish would be for you to share a home-cooked meal with family, where you give thanks for one another and share stories of Cheryl. Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Cheryl at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) SATURDAY 1-4 PM.

I met Cheryl when she was a member in Geauga Ohio Horseman’s Council. I didn’t know her well but appreciated her friendly attitude and active contribution to our club as Membership Chairperson. I also enjoyed the occasional horseback ride with Cheryl and Keith in our group rides in the parks. It is a very sad time when a family loses a loved one so young. I am so sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences to the Moone family. It was a pleasure to be in Cheryl’s exercise class for five years, twice weekly. I will miss her saying to us, are you smiling and is your bellybutton in? Cheryl, you are missed and I know you are cheering us on wherever you are!

To my brother Keith & family. Words can’t convey how sorry we are for your loss, but I know Cheryl would not want us to dwell on that. We will remember her always with love in our heart’s and a smile on our face. There is not enough room here to share everything we would like to about Cheryl. Until than our family will get together, make a home cooked meal and share our many stories about Cheryl and our families with nothing but love in our hearts and a smile on our face. We will honor her as long as we have breath. Much love and many prayers.Vikki and Larry

Cheryl was a wonderful mentor to me when I was younger and first starting off in the fitness world.
She was so knowledgeable and always wanted to help people become better versions of themselves. I learned a great deal by her example of leadership.
Cheryl would always talk to me so proudly about her kids and all the different activities they were involved with.
She was certainly a proud mom and I’m sure in her glory as a grandmother!
I’m sending prayers and love to the entire family during this difficult time.
She was a special woman and will be missed by many.

I looked up to Cheryl, she is 5 years older than me. In my mind, she was so beautiful with that long straight 70’s hair parted down the middle. I loved watching her cheerlead!! What a role model, for me, as a young girl. RIP Sweet Cheryl, A Beautiful Life❤️

I grew up in the Moone household – playing in several bands with Chad and ultimately rooming with him throughout college, also at Wittenberg. There was always a full refrigerator, welcome smiles and open arms and hearts for all of us. That she even let us in her house to make the racket we did says everything it needs to about Cheryl’s grace, tolerance, and support. Horses. Dogs. Ducks. Drop-ins during the holidays. This family is a cornerstone of my life. We’re sending our love to everyone in the Moone family.

My sympathies to Cheryl’s family. We were 1975 classmates and cheerleaders together. I have many great memories of parties at Cheryl’s house in grade school (making homemade ice cream) and high school slumber parties. Cheryl was fun, smart, and beautiful. I have thought of her many times throughout the years. Cheryl, I trust you are experiencing God’s peace now and forever

Keith and family, we are in disbelief over Cheryl. The news brought back a flood of wonderful memories that we look forward to sharing with all of you this summer. We spent so much time together from Thanksgivings, the Y, La Salette Shrine, missile command games, trips to Old Orchard Beach, home projects and teaching the kids to swim in the back yard pool. All filled with laughter, excellent meals, ice cream and some adult beverages. We cherish the memories from our last time together at our home in florida. Cheryl was a gem and will be so missed. Sending our thoughts, prayers and love.

I miss Cheryl and her wonderful exercise class, where she seemed to see us all, noticing our tummy tucks and posture, but always with a cheerful smile and laugh. Her love of life and family were so admirable, a real role model to fall. Thank you for the beautiful pictures of her.

I join my other classmates in giving thanks for the years that we shared together and pray for God’s comfort and peace to you, her beloved family as you grieve her loss.

To the Hartschuh/Moone family I was shocked and deeply saddened by the news of Cheryl’s passing. I was a 1975 Willard high school classmate of hers. I’ve known her since our early grade school days at Central. She was sweet, smart, popular, great cheerleader and had a great smile. May God give comfort to the family at this time. Treasure the memories. Celebrate her life. RIP Cheryl ❤

Saddened to hear about Cheryl’s passing; we moved away but still get the Chagrin Valley Times and my parents spotted the obituary. Can’t say I knew her real well but every year at the fair she’d wander in to the cow barn, look me up, and ask how my folks were doing. A sweet lady that my parents will miss too. Comforting thoughts and prayers to the family.
