DAPHNE MILLER, age 54, beloved partner for 9 years of Betty Jacobs; loving mother of Oliver and Penelope, and step-mother of Sara; cherished daughter of Thomas (deceased) and Wanda (nee Harvey) Miller; daughter-in-law of Catherine Ashburn and dear sister-in-law of Geneva McCormack.
Daphne was born on January 6, 1969 and died suddenly from an apparent asthma attack on January 21, 2023. She lived in Concord for the last 8 ½ years after residing in Wickliffe for the previous 10. Daphne grew up in Dover and graduated from Dover High School. She went on to attend Muskingum College where she earned a degree in marketing. She was the office manager at FTTB Cleaners in Kirtland. Before working there, she worked at the Lake County YMCA in marketing for several years.
She co-founded LGBTQ+ Allies Lake County with her partner Betty, where she was also president of the board. A committed volunteer, Daphne also served as the treasurer and secretary of the board for the Lake County History Center.
Daphne was an avid reader and enjoyed all movies. However, Daphne’s greatest joy was her family. Being a mom was the only thing she knew she wanted to be. She drove Oliver and Penelope to school every day and sang them Twinkle Twinkle Little Star every night. Daphne put the people she loved first. She was everyone’s cheerleader and made everyone around her better. She is remembered as being the most empathetic and caring person. She only knew how to love with her full heart. She will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Daphne to a Treasured Memories account created in Daphne’s name to help with funeral expenses and to help support the family. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Daphne at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91)THURSDAY January 26 from 4to 7 PM. Celebration of Life service immediately following at 7PM.

Betty – I wish I knew works that could console you but there are none. The loss of your spouse is such a hardship…. I hope you can hold on to your children, family and friends to get you through the months to come. The two of you created a legacy of LGBTQ support in Lake County…your love for another will live on through the foundation you built. Hugs to you- Mark Lehman Cleveland PFLAG Board Member

Daphne was a very powerful example to the people of Advent Lutheran Church as to what it means to be totally accepting, affirming and inclusive of all people. She helped light our path towards becoming an open and inclusive congregation,

Betty, we are shocked to hear of Daphne’s sudden passing. When we lose a cherished loved one, we want just one more hug, one more smile, one more laugh. Just one more opportunity to be together. Bodies die. Love never dies. May you find strength and comfort in family and friends.

My heart is so sad to hear of Daphne’s passing. She holds a place in my heart as we attended Muskingum College at the same time and she was instrumental in the matchmaking of my now husband. Her humor, energy and caring nature helped me hook him and I will be eternally grateful. Prayers to her family and friends.
