DELIA “DEE” MERCADO age 59, cherished daughter of the late Arsenio Mercado Sr. and Barbara Jane Thomas Mercado; dearest sister of Barbara (Mark) Mozuch, Ralph (Jan) Vicario, Margie Bailey, Joseph (Carol) Vicario, Victor Mercado, Arsenio (Myra) Mercado, Gloria Mercado, and the late Arsenio Mercado Jr.; dear aunt and great-aunt of many; beloved mother to her fur babies Tabitha, Sasha, and Chloe.
Dee was born on November 7, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on August 22, 2020 in Mentor, Ohio where she resided for the past 20 years. She graduated from Lincoln West High School and continued her education at Lakeland Community College. Dee was quite the “handywoman” while working at Mozuch Contracting and Caterpillar. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and making ceramics. Dee lived for animals, as they were her life and what kept her going. Animals meant so much to her, that she would care for every stray animal she found. No animal went unloved in the presence of Dee. A night with friends and family surrounded by a campfire was a night well spent. She appreciated good company and looked forward to every holiday. Dee was known for her love of tigers and for being a huge Pittsburg Steelers fan. She relished in the vacations she spent with her family, especially those to Puerto Rico and Ocean City, and the annual trips to the Casino. Dee would do anything, no matter the circumstance, for anyone. She would give you her last dollar, because she wanted to make everyone happy. Dee had a heart of gold, and for that she will be dearly missed.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Dee at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) on MONDAY, AUGUST 31, 2020 from 4-6 PM.
