
DENNIS DAY age 61, survived by the mother of his children Shelley McIntosh; loving father of Lacey “Tracy”, Dana “Dub”, Sunny “Tunny, Tig”, and Danny “Ol Buddy” Day; devoted grandfather of Hunter “Ol Buddy, Bird” and Jackson “Jaxub”; cherished son of the late Roger “Mobe” and Alma “Ems” (nee Clayton); dearest brother of Ruth “Root”, Brenda “Rendy”, April “Apples”, and the late Debbie “Tank, Foo” Day; ” treasured son-in-law of Earla Howard “Big E”; uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.
Dennis was born on April 12, 1956 and passed away on September 20, 2017. He was a graduate of Chardon High School and a member of Pilgrim Christian Church. He was a laborer and a member of the Laborers Local 860 union. Dennis was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, fish fries, and cooking with his family. His heart was always in the hills of West Virginia, and he loved finding lost items like arrowheads and old bottles. He treasured tractor rides and walks in the woods with his grandsons. Dennis was very funny with a great sense of humor, and as noted above, he loved to give everyone nicknames. He was everyone’s best friend, and was described as generous, goodhearted, and genuine. His family said you will find different parts of Dennis in each of his children. There will never be anyone like Dennis, and he will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Dennis to the recovery group of your choice. Family will receive friends and pay tribute to the life of Dennis at THE DeJOHN Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro) 126 South St. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Tuesday, September 26, 4-8PM, with a Celebration of Life Service at 7PM.
