Seech 1

ERNEST J. “RUSTY” SEECH age 64, beloved husband for 45 years of June (nee Folk); loving father of Jennifer Seech (husband Mark Hrvatin) and Jason; devoted grandfather of Jacob, Meggan, Joshua, Trevor, Owen, Johnathon, Colin and the late Julia Seech; cherished son of the late Ernest and Julia (nee Hornick); dearest brother of Julie Martin (husband Larry) and preceeded in death by Jane Gruly and Mary Ann Nemeth; dear uncle.

Ernest “Rusty” Seech was born on March 7th, 1955 in Cleveland. He and his sister Julie grew up on Lamontier Avenue and went to St. Benedict’s Elementary School with friends from the neighborhood. He graduated from Benedictine High School, and attended John Carroll University, which is when he met the love of his life: June. They married and soon had two wonderful children, Jennifer and Jason. He joined KMH, a food broker, as a salesman in the early 80’s and made friends with a great group of guys. In 1992 he graduated from Lakeland Community College with his associate’s degree in Applied Business. Rusty worked in Food Sales for many years, eventually retiring from Smith Foods in 2017. He worked part-time at the South Euclid Community Center for almost 20 years, making many friends there as well. In 2005 he realized a life-long dream by opening his own business, Home Sweet Home Repair, which specialized in handling the “Honey Do” lists for his clients. There were many special things that brought joy to his life including Sunday dinners with family and friends, his seven amazing grandchildren and his volunteer work as Santa Claus during the Christmas season. His kindness and charm drew people to him. Rusty passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was always young at heart and his beautiful spirit will be missed.

Contributions may be made in memory of Rusty to Hospice of the Western Reserve PO Box 72101, Cleveland, OH 44192.

Condolences for the family of “Ernest Seech”

Condolence from Bob & Sue Hamilton on April 30th, 2019 9:43 am

There really are no words to express how much Rusty will be missed. His down to earth, heartfelt personality will always be in our hearts.

Condolence from Jay Buchholz on April 30th, 2019 12:47 pm

Rusty was a man knew how to decorate a yard for the holidays. I’m pretty sure the Seech household could be seen from space around Christmastime. June, Jennifer and Jason, I’m very sorry for your loss. Rusty was a terrific man and he will be missed.

Condolence from Fratalia Patti on April 30th, 2019 5:48 pm

Our hearts are broken for our family. I will miss my ‘walking buddy’ during our phone calls. Rusty and his fun loving personality will always be remembered. With our thoughts and prayers. Patti and John.

Condolence from Paul M. Thayer on May 1st, 2019 6:58 pm

Ernie was my trainer and supervisor when I worked as a part-time merchandiser for Smith Foods from November of 2013 to the beginning of July in 2015. Seeing his obituary in the PLAIN DEALER just now was a real shock. He and his family are in my prayers, and I shall remember him at mass in Vermilion right around the time of his Celebration of Life.

June, I was so sorry to hear of Rusty’s passing. He was always fun to be around and always treated me like family. I know he will be deeply missed. Hugs and prayers for you and your family.

Like Jay, I remember the holiday decorations well. There wasn’t a holiday that Mr. Seech didn’t have decorations for, and we all loved it. Jason, Jennifer, and Mrs. Seech: words can’t describe how sorry I am for your loss. Jason, your Dad always called me “Becky-call-me-anytime” which is the message I would leave for you when I called. It still makes me giggle like a teenager. I wish you all love and peace. You’re in my heart.
