FRANCES A. SICHKO (nee Pongonis) age 97, beloved wife for 40 years of the late Michael, Jr.; loving mother of Francesanne Piunno-Brooks (husband Charles), David (wife Deborah), and Judith Schiciano; devoted grandmother of 8, great-grandmother of 15, and great great-grandmother of 3; cherished daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (nee Tulauskas) Pongonis; dearest sister of Lawrence (wife Carole), John (wife Rose, deceased), and the late Richard (wife Rosemary, deceased); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Frances was born on April 5, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio. Strong in her Catholic faith, she was a devoted parishioner throughout her life. In Cleveland, she found strength in St. George’s Lithuanian Catholic Church. In South Euclid, she found a faithful community in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Finally, St. Anselm’s in Chesterland provided her a sanctuary of peace in her final years. She was a member of “Young at Heart” and looked forward to meeting up with the gals from church to play a good card game or attending a crocheting event. She was extremely talented and known for her amazing dinners. Family would fight over her famous mashed potatoes and stuffed cabbage, as well as her homemade cherry cheesecake. She was also a great seamstress and woman of service. She would volunteer her own time to make pillows for those under Hospice Care. Before retirement from Russo’s Stop – N- Shop, where she worked as a cashier, she worked during WWII for the White Motor Company in the engineering office. Frances was also proud to be a Commissioner of the Highland Heights Office on Aging. Above all things, Frances loved and adored her family and the time that was spent with all of them. Although Frances enjoyed being active and going out of her way to help others, she was still very quiet and humble. On April 11, 2022 Frances peacefully passed away. Though she lived a long life, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Frances to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Mass Offerings may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Chardon.

Although I didn’t see Fran Sichko very often, when I did, she was very lovely to me. I admired her and felt that she was one of God’s angels here on earth. Rest in Peace, dear Fran!
