My Uncle Franky was a beautiful human who represented the most innocent qualities that are in the image of God. He was born with developmental disabilities, but spoke Slovenian and English. He was attached to his sister Flori and gave her great meaning her life’s work. He had a sense of humour that let anyone know there was a light behind his eyes.
His sister Flori taught him to smoke cigarettes, his father taught him to have shots, and he taught us about complete love. I met him once, and he hugged me and loved me. For someone who may have appeared to have had limitations, he showed us that we had limitations. He goes home to our heavenly parents, complete, whole, and having left love. Something remarkable.

I work in the group home Frank lived in ran by Koinonia Homes for the past 18 months. Frank was the life of the house. He had story after story to tell about his earlier life with his brother Bill. He talked about his sister Florie often. Frank was loved by the staff that provided him with tender loving care and will be missed by the other 7 folks that live at the house. It was with deep sorrow that we learned of Frank’s passing on October 30, 2013

Even though I had met my Uncle Frankie only a few times, I do have memories of his big smile and boisterous laugh. He had an inner joy and peace. Frankie made people feel happy. My mother, Tina, told me stories of driving him around Cleveland, cherishing that time together when they could get away. Now he remains in eternal glory with Christ Jesus…
