Ivana and I grew up in the St Vitus area. Her dad had the shoe store and we went there for all our needs. One particular time daddy was out of work and Mr Majer gave him a job to help support all of us. Kind and loving people. RIP Ivana…blessings

Rest in peace, Ivana. Sincere condolences to this family. At SAA, Ivana was the one to study with ahead of a test–she anticipated the teachers’ questions ! At JCU she was so happy to be in the first class of women admitted. She fought through so many health problems in the 70’s, she’s been a fighter who maintained her joy. Heaven will enjoy her smile.

  10. I enjoyed many years working with Ivy at St. Helen School. The students were so lucky to have “Mrs. Yuko” for a librarian. When she read a story to the students, many times she would dress up as one of the characters making each book she read an adventure. She shared her love of reading and her wealth of knowledge with the students who came into her library (including my own 2 sons). Ivy would take the time to get to know each child, find out their interests, and direct them to a book that would spark their interest to read.
In turn, children realized reading could be fun and not just another assignment. She never judged what they read as long as they were reading. She knew reading for pleasure was just as important as reading to complete a homework assignment. I will continue to remember fondly our years together at St. Helen School. Long before the Internet we had Ivy. If you needed to find information on just about any subject, Ivy knew just were to look. You will be missed Mrs. Yuko. John, Elizabeth and Victoria you are in my prayers as well as my families. May God Bless each of you. Love and Prayers Judy Romagni
