As a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, John was a lecturer and usher. He also belonged to the Mayfield JCs and the J-Seniors. John coached baseball and basketball at St. Francis and Mayfield Village Girls Softball, and in his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, yard work, bowling, playing cards, and watching the Cleveland Indians.
