KATHRYN E. “KATY” BERQUIST age 34, died peacefully at home after her battle with cancer; cherished daughter of Allen Berquist and Janel (nee Aicher) Moore (husband Bruce); loving sister of Brian (wife Jennie); devoted aunt of Abby; dearest close friend of Nate Allen; beloved niece, cousin, and friend of many.
Contributions may be made in memory of Katy to San Francisco SPCA Animal Shelter or the Cleveland Animal Protective League or the National Park Foundation.
Katy was born in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Richmond Heights High School, Class of 2005. She went on to graduate from The University of Dayton in 2010 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. She loved her many years living in California and especially enjoyed traveling internationally, rock climbing, and hiking. While all who know Katy feel her 34 years of life was way too short, it is about what she did in those years. She was proud to have seen Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Ireland, Thailand, Germany, Belgium, and Turkey. Katy was fiercely independent, strong-willed, always laughing and had an amazing sense of humor, and certainly lived by her own rules. She will be deeply missed by many and remembered always.

To Janel, Brian and family. I’m at a loss for words. I had no idea Katy was ill – when I think of her I see a skinny little kid always laughing , playing with my kids on Jeannette in Richmond Hts. I’m so so sorry. God Bless you all.
So sorry for your loss Janel. Keeping you all in prayer.
I’m so sorry Janel…
Janel and family. There are no words to take away the pain but knowing how much Katy was loved will hopefully help you get through this difficult time. She certainly did more in her shortened life than most people do and touched many hearts along the way. May all your memories bring peace to you all and in time may all the love you share make the days easier.
Dearest Janel and family,
Please know of our very deepest sympathy on the passing of your Katy. Although Jim and I did not know her personally, we do know that our world has lost someone remarkable, but heaven has gained a delightfully spunky young lady. Keeping all of you in thought and prayer. God Bless.
What a beautiful daughter you had in your life for just a short time! I remember when I first met you that she would often be at St. Felicitas with you….so special. You are in my prayers and thoughts during these trying days. God Bless! Jane Vajda

Janel, Al and Brian,
I am at a loss of words. I couldn’t believe it when I found out. I’m so blessed to have been friends with Katy when we were kids. I have so many fond memories of making crafts together, playing with barbies, listening to and watching the spice girls, swimming in the pool and all the sleepovers. She was so kind, funny, smart and caring. I cannot imagine what you are going through. May you all find the strength in this time of sorrow. She will never be forgotten.
I am so very sorry about the loss of your daughter, Katy. I am praying for you and your family during most difficult this time.

Janel ,Katy's mom
Thank you all for your kind words and support at this most difficult time. Many of you knew Katy, some of you didn’t, but as you read about her you learned she was an amazing woman who did more in her short 34 years on this earth as many have done in their entire life. Katy touched so many lives and has left a huge hole in all of our hearts.
Until we see each other again my sweet baby girl. I love you to the moon and back. XOXO Mom
