KATHRYN E. “KATY” BERQUIST age 34, died peacefully at home after her battle with cancer; cherished daughter of Allen Berquist and Janel (nee Aicher) Moore (husband Bruce); loving sister of Brian (wife Jennie); devoted aunt of Abby; dearest close friend of Nate Allen; beloved niece, cousin, and friend of many.
Contributions may be made in memory of Katy to San Francisco SPCA Animal Shelter or the Cleveland Animal Protective League or the National Park Foundation.
Katy was born in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Richmond Heights High School, Class of 2005. She went on to graduate from The University of Dayton in 2010 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. She loved her many years living in California and especially enjoyed traveling internationally, rock climbing, and hiking. While all who know Katy feel her 34 years of life was way too short, it is about what she did in those years. She was proud to have seen Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Ireland, Thailand, Germany, Belgium, and Turkey. Katy was fiercely independent, strong-willed, always laughing and had an amazing sense of humor, and certainly lived by her own rules. She will be deeply missed by many and remembered always.
Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 10 AM at St. John of the Cross Parish, 140 Richmond Rd., Euclid (Please meet at church). Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Katy at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 5-8 PM.

Janel, Al and Brian,
I am at a loss of words. I couldn’t believe it when I found out. I’m so blessed to have been friends with Katy when we were kids. I have so many fond memories of making crafts together, playing with barbies, listening to and watching the spice girls, swimming in the pool and all the sleepovers. She was so kind, funny, smart and caring. I cannot imagine what you are going through. May you all find the strength in this time of sorrow. She will never be forgotten.

Thank you all for your kind words and support at this most difficult time. Many of you knew Katy, some of you didn’t, but as you read about her you learned she was an amazing woman who did more in her short 34 years on this earth as many have done in their entire life. Katy touched so many lives and has left a huge hole in all of our hearts.
Until we see each other again my sweet baby girl. I love you to the moon and back. XOXO Mom
