MAHI “MAY” PAPARIZOS (nee Dufopoulos), aged 89 years, beloved wife of the late Alex, dearest mother of Peter (wife Kimberly–deceased) (companion Denise) and Nikki Stathopoulos (husband George), loving grandmother of Peter (wife Renee), Brittany Paparizos, Andrea Mahi Stathopoulos (husband Mark Basista) and Antony Stathopoulos, great-grandmother of Peter Alexander Paparizos, devoted daughter of the late Paschalis and Lukia (nee Giurukis) Dufopoulos, cherished sister of Vasiliki Liamos and the late Angeliki Michalopoulos and Christos Dufopulos, fond aunt, cousin and dear friend to many.
Mahi was born on October 25, 1933, in Nestorio, Greece. In 1956, she immigrated to the United States with her husband, Alex, and settled in Cleveland. The family later moved to Willowick where they raised two children and lived for over 50 years. May was a homemaker who enjoyed baking Greek desserts and delicious “pites”. Hosting friends and family for coffee and sharing these delights brought us all pleasure. She also worked at the family’s restaurant, Alexander’s Restaurant in Euclid, whenever an extra hand was needed in the kitchen. May enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Family will always remember the special Christmas dinners held at yiayia’s house which she hosted up until last year. You made us feel safe and welcome, you got things done that had to be done, and you didn’t want us worrying about anything that could not be changed.
Mahi passed away January 28, 2023, with family surrounding her. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and all those who knew her.
Contributions in memory of May suggested to Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3352 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland Hts., OH 44118.
Visitation on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 10-11 AM at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Funeral services following at 11AM. Interment Knollwood Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID.
