MARGARET “PEGGY” ELIZABETH MacNAUGHTON (nee Hall), age 89. Beloved wife of Robert “Bob” H. MacNaughton (deceased October 2018) married for 58 years; devoted and loving mother and grandmother to Mark (Jennifer) and their children Gabrielle, Paige and Megan, and Brian (Brenda) and their son Joe and their grandchildren Jacey, Julia and Joelle. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents William I. and Margaret Penrose Hall. She was close to her nieces and nephews Billy, Cathy, Margie and Steve Hall, and is survived by her brother, Bill Hall.
Peggy died peacefully in her sleep on February 22, 2022. Peggy grew up in Fredericksburg, VA where she attended James Monroe High School and had many close friends. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, and her Masters of Library Science from Indiana University, where she and Bob met. Between receiving her BA and her Masters, she worked for the FBI in the communications department. A devoted and avid reader, which she imparted to her children, she had a long career as a librarian at the Mayfield library and the South Euclid library, for which she had a particular love. After retiring, she continued to work as a volunteer at the South Euclid library. She was a member of the College Club and volunteered with Bob at Playhouse Square. Peggy and Bob spent much of their retirement traveling the U.S. and Europe. She was a beloved resident of the Breckenridge retirement community for the last 20 years. As she neared the end of her life, many of the staff stopped by to comment on what a sweet person Peggy was.
Due to COVID-19, a private ceremony will be held at the DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home, with burial in Lake View Cemetery. A celebration of Peggy’s life will be scheduled sometime in the spring of 2022.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Cuyahoga County Public Library Foundation (https://www.cuyahogalibrary.org/Donate.aspx) or the literary organization of your choice.

I am so sorry to hear of Peggy’s passing. We worked together at The College Club on scholarships and had so much fun looking up our family roots with
ancestry. Peggy’s smile could light up a room. She will be missed. My prayers to the family. Love Pat Miller

Dear MacNaughton Family,
Please accept my sympathy as you enter this next phase of your lives – the one without your beloved mother and grandmother. I knew Peggy through our College Club memberships. She was an active member of the Club, and a person who was easy to know. Her gentle manner endeared her to all who knew her. I hold you in my heart in comforting thought at this very sad time in your lives.
