  11. My prayers to Mark’s family. Karen, Mark and I shared some great times and I will always treasure those memories. Mark will certainly be missed. Peace to Mark and comfort to all those who knew and loved him.

  12. Not enough space here for the memoirs of a thirty-year+ friendship with this man. As a new apprentice Mark was assigned to me as his first journeyman and he was my first apprentice. As we worked at the trade, I told him some of my exploits diving the ship wrecks off Cleveland. He immediately signed up for dive lessons and the rest is history, with a few dozen dives together. Later, as I raised my family, it was Mark who would call and invite me to go on various dive and sailing trips, and I lived vicariously through his exploits. We roomed together on a couple brief travel jobs, and we constantly laughed about the people around us, and about ourselves. That was the beauty of Mark, he could laugh at himself as easily as another. He was genuine, and that was what resonated with those of us lucky enough to know him. Too soon lost, I thought we had much more time with Mark. RIP my friend, I’ll see you on the other side–Hank

  13. Mark and I had many heartfelt conversations and laughs as we bounced with the Chesapeake waves on the bow of the Krugerrand – he had a gentle soul and was a gentleman. He quickly became a key member of the “Pittsburgh crew” and will be missed; lovingly remembered and saluted every time we have “Ladies Day” during a sail. He was the first to jump up and help, be it hoisting a sail; stowing the bags; grinding a winch or diving overboard in the BVI to check the anchor haphazardly set by one of our crazy captains . Even though he should have been with us much longer, we were blessed to have his years of friendship. I will always remember his dazzling smile and his kindness. My sympathy to his family.

  14. Tante Else, Uncle Herb, Karen & family we are so very sorry to hear about Mark’s passing. we will always carry in our hearts the wonderful memories of him and remember the fun times when we were young at Tante Ida’s house on chapman rd. He was too young to leave us all behind but he is with God now in a better place. Cherish your memories of him to help get you through this difficult time.
Love Heide & family and Dieter & family.

  15. Good freand
