SELWAN age 84, beloved husband of Antoinette (nee Aoun); loving father of Pierre (wife Eliane), Pierrette Sahlani (husband Nabil) and Eliane Seeman (husband Joseph); devoted grandfather of 8; Marc Selwan (wife Rachel), Elizabeth Lewis (husband Kevin), Christian Selwan, Michel Sahlani, Mario Sahlani (wife Charlotte), Anna Sahlani, Lily Seeman and Patrick Seeman; great grandfather of Kayden ; cherished son of the late Nemr and Amalia (nee Maroun); dearest brother of Maheeba Sahlani (husband Labib), Nohad Daher (husband Bechara), Noelle Andrea (husband Ray), Amal Burlak (husband Edward) and the late John (wife Amal); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Maroun N. Selwan was born on July 28, 1936 in Aitaneet, Lebanon. He passed away peacefully January 28, 2021 in his home in South Russell. He moved to the United States in 1995.
In Lebanon Maroun owned and operated his own automotive repair business for over 40 years. Maroun liked gardening, shopping and exercising and loved to watch wrestling smack downs. He was very progressive and lived life to the fullest. He will be remembered for his zest for life. He was a very devoted husband and father of three children. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Antoinette. Maroun’s children were his pride and joy; no sacrifice was too big in order to provide for his family and his children’s education. He adored his 8 grandchildren and was lucky enough to meet his great grandchild. He always joked that if he had known he would love the grandchildren that much he would have had them first. He was very social, had a great sense of humor and countless friends. He will be greatly missed and remembered.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Maroun to St. Maron Catholic Church, 7800 Brookside Rd., Independence, OH 44143. Private Family Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maron Catholic Church. Arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID.
