Mary C. Blatnik, age 98, was born on March 11, 1923, to Frank and Katrina Homar in Cleveland, Ohio. She passed away on January 12, 2022. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Henry Blatnik; mother of Bonnie and Cathy Ann; sister of the late Frank Homar, Jr. (Lillian), Josephine Wutchiett (Joseph, deceased), Frances Kajfez (Matt, deceased), and Alice Signorelli (Tony). She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Mary lived in Euclid, Ohio for over 50 years before moving to Eastlake, Ohio.
She was actively involved in many civic, cultural and Slovenian fraternal organizations including AMLA and KSKJ. Mary was honored by the Federation of Slovenian National Homes as their Woman of the Year for 1989. She worked at various party centers throughout the area before developing her reputation as an excellent caterer, preparing and decorating elegant buffets, cocktail receptions and dinners. Mary’s hobbies included baking, playing cards, and sewing. Mary was a beautiful and giving woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Contributions may be made in memory of Mary to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association of Greater Cleveland.. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake Church 19951 Lakeshore Blvd., Euclid, Ohio at 10 AM. Burial will take place privately. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Mary at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4PM until 8PM.
