Merici was born on July 5, 1937 and passed away peacefully on March 29, 2023. She grew up in Cleveland Heights and attended Gesu School, Beaumont School, and St. Vincent Charity School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. Merici married her high-school sweetheart, Fred, on July 11, 1959, and honeymooned at Oglebay resort. They raised their five children in Mayfield Heights where they resided for 61 years and were active parishioners of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Her Nursing career began in 1958. She later took time off to raise her children, then returned to nursing in 1982 where she continued at Hillcrest Hospital until her retirement in 1999. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, golfing, and loved to travel- visiting all 50 states and making 7 trips to Europe. She loved weekends at Oglebay, big family trips to the Outer Banks, and spending winters at Spring Training in Florida. Spending time with her Golden Gate neighbors and her many long time Jaycee friends was so important to her. Most importantly, she appreciated any time she spent with her husband. Merici was described as a selfless, kind, giving, generous woman who was devoted to her faith. She will be remembered most as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by many.

Dear Fred and Family,
I am so sorry about the loss of Mer. She was a very dear friend for many years, and I will always remember the fun times we had in JayCees and J-Srs. We also had many good times together in Florida, golfing, dinner and just spending time together. All of you took such good care of her these past several years. She will be missed.
