MILDRED “MICKIE” WYLLIE (nee Lilly) age 98, beloved wife for 61 years of the late Robert Jr. “Bob”. She is survived by Robert III “Bob” (wife Elaine), Ginny Rice (husband Chris) and the late Trudie Vander Haut (husband Dirk) and Bill (wife Madonna Arredondo). Grandchildren include Bob Wyllie IV (wife Betsy Prueter), Jim Wyllie (wife Amy), Heidi Vander Haut, Peter Vander Haut (wife Candy), Meghan Jaquot (husband Cyril), and Kevin Wyllie. She was the great-grandmother of Yale Vander Hout, Faye Wyllie and Dessa Prueter and cherished daughter of the late William and Gertrude (nee Everill) Lilly.
The family extends a sincere thank you to Tess Novak for the endless love and care she provided Mickie.
Mildred was born on January 12, 1925, in Gary, Indiana, the only child to her parents. Mickie married Bob in California on February 12, 1944, while he was on leave from the Army during WW2. Together they created a life of love and deep commitment. Their first-born Trudie was born 1945 in Gary Indiana and their son Bob III was born in Japan after they were stationed their following the war. Bob Jr. remained in in the Army and rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel with various postings including Alaska, Chicago, Washington DC and Atlanta. After leaving the military Bob and Mickie moved South Bend, Indiana. It was during this time that Bob began working with his brother Jim at Nylon Craft. Mickie was a passionate lover of Broadway musicals, and attended her children’s musicals, choir and band concerts, and plays. The two held season tickets to Notre Dame football games and enjoyed taking clients and friends to games. Mickie and Bob retired to Fort Myers Florida and spent nearly three decades together before her husband passed away in 2005. Mickie cared for everyone she met. She made sure everyone had the things they needed and were thought of, especially on the holidays.
On March 26, 2023, this passionate woman passed away leaving her family missing her love, compassion and sense of humor.
A private celebration of her life will be held.
