Norman Eging

NORMAN H. EGING age 94,  beloved husband for 72 years of the late Dorothy (nee Katuc); loving father of Connie Huston and Ron (wife Jeannine); devoted grandfather of Heather Fulton (husband Scott) and great-grandfather of TJ and Ben Harmon; cherished son of the late Alfred and Lenna (nee Randles); dearest brother of Lorene Parsons and the late Ray.

Norman was born on May 6, 1925 in Claridon, OH and passed away on June 4, 2019. A lifelong resident of Geauga County, he was known and loved by all. He proudly served in the United States Navy. After, learning how to repair Maytag washers and dryers, he became the “Maytag Repair Man”. Norman serviced the appliances all around the area, and he became the go to guy. Aside from being a helpful hand, Norman was a man that anyone could sit and talk to. With his great conversations and dry sense of humor, he was a friend to everyone.

Contributions may be made in memory of Norman to the charity of your choice. Cremation by DeJohn Crematory.

A private graveside service will be held at Hambden Township Cemetery.

Tonight when I came back from my Tuesday night golf night my wife Barb said to me I have some sad news for you that Norm Eging has died and as I write this done with tears in my eyes how much of a special MAN he was! Barb and I over 53 years ago bought are first Maytag Washer and Dryer from the Maytag man in Chardon Norm Eging! Over the years of having four sons playing football, baseball, basketball and etc. the washer wore out so Norm sold us another one! Good buy by a good GUY!! But the dryer is still in are house and with a lot of help and phone calls and stopper at his house and many times having him helping me fix it through the Maytag Man! When I would come over to the house and walk into the house I always say as I entered Honey I’m Home and they both laugh and Norm would continue saying that as he entered the house. There are people in are lives that touch are lives and are HEARTS and NORM was one of them! He’rs a big hug and GOD BLESS YOU!!!

Such a special person, Mr. Eging. He was our Maytag repair man for the past couple of years and we always enjoyed listening to his stories. He will always be remembered fondly.

  5. Norm was the greatest guy. He fixed our dryer and washing machine more than once. I remember the time he showed Gail and I his folder full of jokes and news clippings and other stories. I am sorry to hear of his passing. So few are made like Norm anymore.
