Allen J. Toris, age 81, beloved husband for 47 years of Carol (nee Anderson), father of James M. Toris (deceased), son of the late Daniel Toris and Eileen Toris (nee Stanley). Brother of Vivian Kendzior (nee Toris), uncle of Lisa Smith and Daniel Smith and great uncle of Kennedy Smith.
He was brother-in-law, cousin, nephew and friend of many. Allen was born on August 22, 1944, in San Diego, CA while his father served in the Navy during WWII. The family moved to Cuyahoga Falls after the war. He went to Ohio State University until enlisting in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He served as a technician and repairman of radar equipment at Gap Filler sights on the west coast and Midwest. After discharge, he moved to St. Paul, MN where he worked at Unisys Corporation testing and repairing computers for nuclear submarines among other projects. Upon his retirement, he moved to Omaha, NE and then Cleveland OH. For fun, he loved to travel the great highways of the USA including the Great River Road, Route 66 and the Lincoln Highway. He traveled by train along most of Amtrak's routes. He visited 50 of the USA National Parks. He collected Lionel trains and joined the Train Collectors Association where he met some lifelong friends. He loved to play badminton, run tournaments and teach others how to play. He enjoyed taking cruises and visiting baseball parks with his family.
He passed away on November 9, 2025. His ashes will be buried at Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan, IL.
