Antonio “Nino” Liuzzo

ANTONIO “NINO” LIUZZO age 73, beloved husband for 16 years of Maria (nee Healy); loving father of Joseph, Carla, and Angelica, and step-father of Kathleen Benz (husband Jerome Jr.) and Lisa Barelka (husband Ray); devoted grandfather of Isabella Conklin, Joseph “JJ” Jerome Benz III, Aurora Benz, Cullen Barleka, and Brittney Romanovich; cherished son of the late Joseph and Nancy (nee Gullotti); dearest brother of Mario (wife Vivian), Maria DiCenso (husband Fred), Zina Mroczka (husband Jeffrey), Nunzio, and the late Marissa Massiello (husband Ronald); dear uncle and great-uncle of many. Survived by his feline companions Princessa and Smoky.

Nino was born in Bronte, Sicily on April 11, 1948 and passed away on January 31, 2022. In 1966 he left Italy for the United States and lived in Mayfield Heights. He eventually settled in Willoughby, where he lived for over 40 years and was a member of the Body of Christ community in Willoughby.  Nino was self-employed as a hairdresser, and he loved his clients as much as they loved him. Nino’s professional contributions include being the President of the Cleveland affiliate of the National Cosmetology Association and was active in the NCA through the 80s and 90s. The NCA is a nationally certified Hair America Educator and part of the original team that brought hair replacement service and innovation to Ohio in the 70’s.  He loved his work. He enjoyed gardening and opera music, and was a fan of the Cleveland Browns.  Nino was loving, gentle, kind, and sincere. He was hardworking and sociable with a great sense of humor, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Celebration of Life Service Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 11 AM at Body of Christ Church, 38057 Erie Rd. in Willoughby.
