Barbara Pavlovcic

BARBARA PAVLOVCIC (nee HREN) age 93, beloved wife of the late Milan; loving mother of Mitja (wife Mary, nee Erickson); devoted grandmother of Helena; cherished daughter of the late Ignacij and Jelica (nee Marolt) Hren; dearest sister of Meta Cocomero (husband Giovanni, deceased), Marusa Pogacnik (husband Branko, deceased), Majda Leksan (husband Rudi, deceased) and the late Marko, Alenka, Matjaz and Ignacij Hren; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Barbara was born on March 14, 1929 in Verd, Slovenia and passed away peacefully on August 30, 2022 in Cleveland, Ohio.  In 1955, she moved to the United States with the rest of her family.  Barbara was a life-long parishioner at St. Vitus Catholic Church and an active member with Slovenska Pristava in Harpersfield since its inception, as well as KSKJ.   She worked as a bookkeeper with the Children’s Services division of United Way.

For 30+ years she was also the partner and contributor on the long-running Songs and Melodies from Beautiful Slovenia radio program, hosted by husband Milan.   The then-daily program originated on WXEN-FM and eventually transferred 45 years ago to WCSB-FM, and still continues to this day under leadership that includes Barbara’s sister.

Barbara was a loving, quiet and reserved woman who will be remembered most as being loyal to her faith, family and Slovenian heritage.  She will forever be missed.  Extended family in Slovenia, Italy, US, UK and Argentina also joins together in grief at her passing.

Contributions may be made in memory of Barbara to St. Vitus Catholic Church 6019 Lausche Ave, Cleveland, OH. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, September 10, 2022 at St. Vitus Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Barbara at THE ZEVNIK-COSIC FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 4-8 PM
