Bernice E. Polzner

BERNICE E. POLZNER, 92, died quietly in her own bedroom on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Mom was so tremendously loved and adored by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She was able to visit her family and friends in the last few days and that was such a blessing.

Mom was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. At the age of five her parents (Louis and Anna Strick Babas) moved to Willoughby where she grew up and attended Immaculate Conception School. Mom attended Villa Angela High School (’48) and later graduated from Notre Dame College (’52) with a degree in Chemistry.

Mom married her husband, Robert, in 1952, and had four children, Bob, Mike, Jim (Michael Koviak) and Barb (Alice Koporc). They raised their family in Richmond Heights and were members of St. Felicitas Church. In 1976, mom and dad moved to Savannah, Georgia, but soon found they wanted to be back with their family and friends. 1979 found them, once again, living in Richmond Heights. That’s where mom remained till her death.

Mom had six loving grandchildren, on whom the sun rose and set, Jeffrey, Joseph (Sabrina), Elisabeth Polzner Middleswarth (Geoff), Daniel, Kimberly (Amanda Petrusky Polzner) and Brian. There’s no way to explain how important her grandchildren were to her.

As time passed, mom was blessed with six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Aiden, Ben, Lilianna Middleswarth, Evie and London Middleswarth. They brought her so much joy and mom was able to see them and visit just a week before she passed.

Mom also had the joy of visiting with dear longtime friends, Agnes Koporc, Marge Gornik, Mary Ann Sheranko and Fran Lee, just days before she passed.

Now, we are left to mourn. This is painful. But the love and the memories mom made for all of us out of her deep love and caring for us all is what will always be good to hold in our hearts.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, July 29, 2023, at St. Felicitas of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 140 Richmond Rd., Euclid, Ohio 44143 at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Bernice at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.  Arrangements by Mullally Funeral Home.
