It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Billie "Bill" Joe Outland on December 16, 2025, a man of faith, compassion, and generosity. But it is with great joy that we know Bill is now with his Savior, Jesus Christ!
Bill was 93 and the beloved husband of Delores "DeeDee" (nee Orrin); loving father of Kimberly (George) Ohman, Craig (Tamara), Scott (Valerie), and Kevin Eric (Ardith); devoted grandfather of Ashley (Kurt) Ingersoll, Jordan (Rachel) Ohman, Joshua Ohman, Whitney (Brandon) Smith, Lindsay (Kevin) Zywiol, Natalie (Dan) DeYonker, Austin, Brittany (Brendan) Shanahan, Chloe (Luke) Behnke, Ian (Amelia), Jenelle, Keegan, and Soren and great-grandfather of 19; dearest brother of the late James (Della, deceased), Ola (Adolph, deceased) Paige, and Norma (Jim, deceased) Sherman; dear uncle and great-uncle of many. Bill was born on April 28, 1932, in Highland Park, Michigan, to parents Colie and Olon (nee Barrow).
Bill was an excellent athlete who loved playing fast-pitch softball. While proudly serving in the United States Air Force (Signals Intelligence) in Germany during the Korean War, he helped lead the softball team to the European Championship. Not only was he a skilled pitcher, outfielder, and coach, but he was also an accomplished classified decoder for his country.
An engineer by trade, Bill worked and served as part-owner and Vice President of Monarch Tool and Gauge. He was also an active volunteer at church. He taught Sunday school, served as a youth group leader, ran the soundboard, and served as a trustee.
Bill loved spending time with his family - family dinners, playing catch in the backyard, and traveling together were among his favorite things. And if you knew Bill, you knew how much he loved his beautiful wife DeeDee.
To know Bill was to know God. He was strong in his faith and lived a life dedicated to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bill's legacy, which will remain for years to come, will be his dedication to his family and his devotion to Christ.
