Brigitte Averill

BRIGITTE AVERILL (nee Hoppe) age 81, beloved wife for 65 years of Miles; loving mother of Monique, Stephanie Arnett (husband Dana), and Steven (Theresa Zagore); devoted grandmother “Oma” of Paul and Joseph Averill, Alexa Ellwood, and Alma Arnett; cherished daughter of the late Franz and Anna (nee Rudolf) Hoppe; dearest sister of the late Christel Hofmann (husband Peter) and sister-in-law of Nancy and the late Frank Terry and the late Neal Averill; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Brigitte was born in Leitmeritz, Czechoslovakia and moved from Germany to the United States in 1961.

Brigitte loved dogs, cats and birds and spending time outside gardening and landscaping. Her musical interests ranged from classical and opera to polkas. She was also a bookkeeper and hostess for the Hofbrau House in Cleveland.

She was selflessly devoted to her family and friends and she enjoyed cooking and baking for them. She will be remembered as a strong-willed, intelligent woman with a sense of humor who loved to dance.

Prayers of Christian Burial Saturday, December 20, 2025 at THE FUNERAL HOME at 2 PM. 

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Brigitte at DEJOHN FUNERAL HOMES & CELEBRATIONS CENTER, 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) SATURDAY 1:30 – 4:30 PM.
