Cynthia Thomas-Kelly was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 11, 1957, to Frank and Ola Ree Thomas (both deceased).
Cynthia was educated through the Cleveland Public School district where she graduated high school at John Adams High. She went on to earn her Bachelors in Business Administration at Ursuline College.
In 1983, Cynthia met the love of her life, Edwin "Kelly", and they married on August 17, 1985. Together, Cynthia and Kelly embraced life wholeheartedly, traveling extensively and creating memories that she held close after his untimely passing in 2012.
Cynthia was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 10, 2018, and dedicated herself to the ministry. She joyfully engaged in door-to-door work, letter writing, phone witnessing, and other forms of outreach. She also loved helping with Kingdom Hall cleanups and supporting meetings with friends and family. Outside her ministry, Cynthia enjoyed spending time with loved ones, and joining community projects through her longtime employer, KeyBank, where she worked for over 51 years.
Her smile and warmth always lit up the room. Her dedication and devotion to her marriage, her career, her family, friends and extended Christian family was obvious to everyone who knew her.
Cynthia dealt with a serious illness for the past 2 years, however her strong belief in Jehovah’s promise to do away with sickness and death gave her the will to keep serving him faithfully. Cynthia succumbed to her illness, and she passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
In addition to losing her husband, Cynthia lost her brothers Jesse James Wilson, Mark Anthony Thomas and sister Cassandra Jones. Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory daughters Patrice Houston (Stephen) and Kimberley Kelly; siblings Frank III (Rena), Dennis (Simone), Danny (Juanita deceased), Ronald, Oliver (Renee), Carol Rollins (Maurice), and Cheryle Chubb (Henry); aunt Susie Chambliss; uncle Leon Thomas; over 60 nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, as well as a myriad of spiritual friends.
Family Visitation will be Saturday at 1:00PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 11800 Superior Rd., Cleveland, OH 44106. Memorial talk will follow at 2:00PM.
