Dolores C. Landis

DOLORES C. LANDIS (nee Valentine) age 92, beloved wife for 45 years of the late LT. COL. Marshall E.; loving mother of Susan, Marcia Clark (husband Kenneth, deceased), Paul, Kenneth (wife Ellen), Karen Jachter (husband David), Linda, James, Barbara, and the late Diane; grandmother of James, John, Matthew, Kara (husband Chase), Danielle (husband Peter), Shaina, Meredith, and Joseph; step grandmother to Aaron (wife Candra); great-grandmother of Nora, Jacqueline, Miles, and Ranger; cherished daughter of the late  James and Angeline Valentine; dearest sister of the late James Valentine (wife Patricia); dear aunt of Suzi, Scott (wife Sheri), Michael, Mark; great-aunt of James (wife Brittany), Samantha (husband Andrew); great great-aunt of Bennett.

Dolores was born on June 24, 1931, and has resided in the Cleveland area most of her life. Upon graduation from Collinwood High School, Dell continued her education to become a nurse. She was a skilled calligrapher and made many cards and wedding invitations for people. Having a special place in her heart, Dell was involved in a local group that assisted mentally disabled persons. Her great cooking was well appreciated by all. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, and adored animals of all kinds. She also enjoyed traveling the world; her favorite place being France. Dell had a curiosity for life and truly loved learning new things to which she always shared with her loved ones. Many would say she was able to “make friends in an empty room”. Although she appreciated the finer things in life like art and things that sparkled, she relished the simple things like a good cup of coffee and being with the ones she loved. When life gave her lemons, she made lemon meringue pie. On August 14, 2023, this gentle soul passed away. Dell will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege to know and love her.

A Committal Service will be held Friday, September 29, 2023, at 10:45 AM at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273. Please meet at the entrance of the cemetery in the lane designated for Dolores; this lane will be posted as you pull into the cemetery.
