Donald Solar

Donald Nicholas Solar, age 86, passed away on May 22, 2025. He was born on May 12, 1939, in Youngstown, Ohio. Don is survived by wife Joan (nee Reinwald), daughter Jennifer (Christopher), grandson Julian, granddaughters Alexandra and Avalina, sisters Georgia Mikola, Janet Wilhelms (Alan) and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by wife Linda (nee Rosander), parents Peter and Anna, and twin brother Ronald.

Don received his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Electrical Engineering from Ohio University and worked for Reliance Electric. He was a proud Army veteran with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was a member of Celebration Lutheran Church serving in many capacities. Don loved to fish, garden, read and cook (especially on the grill).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Celebration Lutheran Church, PO Box 249, Chardon OH 44024, or the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, 12221 Merit Drive, Suite 1950, Dallas, Texas 75251.

The family will receive friends from 12 - 2 PM Saturday, May 31st, followed by a Funeral Service at 2 PM at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon, OH. Cremation by THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND, OH.
