DONALD E. VARGO age 81 of South Euclid, OH passed away peacefully on April 1. He was a beloved husband for 51 years of Marilyn (nee McBride); loving father of Donald Jr., (wife Lisa), Jeffrey (wife Jamie), Kristina, Lynda Michel (husband Nicholas) and the late Adam Jerome ("AJ"); loving grandfather of Rowan Michel and Audrene Vargo; cherished son of the late Michael and Suzanne (nee Yarolin); dearest brother of Dennis (wife Elizabeth "Betty" deceased) and the late Jerome; dear brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and friend of many. Don has been reunited at the Rainbow Bridge with his many fur babies.
Don was born on March 6, 1945 in Cleveland. He graduated from Euclid High School in 1963, attended Bowling Green University, served as a Specialist (E4) in the US ARMY in Alaska, and later earned his bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University. A man of many professions, he retired from his last position as a Senior Processor at Progressive Insurance.
He liked playing cards, particularly poker and pinochle and loved old cars. He traveled all over the US and when he was home, he could be found attending a Broadway Series at Playhouse Square, enjoying the Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom Music Center, or watching sports or comedy movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Don was a hard-working, generous and giving man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. He was a devoted friend of Bill W. and Dr. Bob. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and faith and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Celebration of Life Service Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 12:00 NOON at Willoughby Hills Friends Church, 2846 SOM Center Road. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Don at THE CHURCH, SATURDAY MORNING, May 2, 2026, from 10:30 AM - 12:00 NOON.
