ELEANOR P. SYRACUSE (nee Zintarski) age 83, beloved wife for 61 years of Anthony; loving mother of Tony (wife Jill), Patricia Burkholder (husband James), Diane Arnold, and Kary Syracuse; devoted grandmother of Emily Hollerbach (husband Alex), Julia Burkholder (husband Lucas Bermudez), Adam Brougher (Kristen Poderzay), Amey Brougher, Evan and Mia Arnold; cherished daughter of the late Theodore and Gertrude (nee Switarski) Zintarski; dearest sister of the late Ray Toth (wife Candida) and Geraldine Grubac, and sister-in-law of Vetus J. and Laura Syracuse; dear aunt and great-aunt of many. Survived by her fur-baby, Benji.
Elly was born March 15, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Euclid High School in 1961, going on to work for some time as a payroll admin. When she was not in the workforce, she took joy caring for her family as a homemaker. Elly enjoyed crocheting and solving puzzles. She was an amazing bowler and won many trophies. Elly was an avid sports fan. She kept up with the Indians, as well as the OSU and Duke University college teams. Elly also enjoyed traveling around the US and listening to oldies from the 50s and 60s, Elvis especially. Elly was hospitable, giving, and a great cook, thinking of others always before herself. She had a friendly spirit and great sense of humor; she loved being silly with her family and friends. Elly will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, strength, kind heart, and devotion to family and faith.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Eleanor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Rd, Kirtland, OH 44094, at 10:30 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Eleanor at The DEJOHN FUNERAL HOMES & CELEBRATIONS CENTER, 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) TUESDAY 4 - 8 PM.
