Elizabeth Cain Lentz

March 10, 1953 — January 24, 2024

ELIZABETH “LIZ” LENTZ (nee Cain), 70, of Chesterland, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly January 24, 2024, after a recent cancer diagnosis.

Cherished mother of Megan (Keith) Campbell and Rachel (Travis) Lemmings; devoted grandmother of Drew, Tyler, Katie, and Wesley; loving daughter of the late Howard and Helen (nee Shaner) Cain; dearest sister to Margaret Lamb (deceased), Chris (deceased) (Terry) Cain, Catherine (Allan) Kaulback, Walker Scott Cain (deceased), Bruce Cain (deceased) and Carolyn Cain; dear aunt and loyal friend of many.

Liz cherished every moment with her friends, family, children and grandchildren. She loved to joyously travel the world, express her creativity through art and other projects, experience new culinary flavors paired with a glass (or two) of wine, read, and spend time among nature. An outspoken environmental advocate, dedicated Humanist, and avid protector for all creatures big and small, Liz made a positive impact on all her passionate causes.

She was undeniably the best mother, and an even better grandmother. Liz dotingly immersed herself in every opportunity to be with her grandchildren; listening to their thoughts and feelings, attending all youth activities, hosting many memorable sleepovers and creating lifelong memories through excursions. Her love was unconditional.

As a former Gates Mills resident for 66 years, Elizabeth loved growing up and living in the Chagrin Valley along the river. She was a 1971 Mayfield City Schools graduate before earning a bachelor's degree from Kent State University. Among the various roles she held, unquestionably her most rewarding job was raising her two daughters. Most recently prior to retirement, Liz enjoyed her work at Mayfield City Schools as a secretary and then librarian. Highly respected and deeply cared about by her co-workers, family and friends alike, Liz will, forever, be terribly missed.

Contributions may be made in memory of Liz to Lifebanc or Foundation for Geauga Parks.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Liz at THE FAMILY LIFE CENTER, 16349 CHILLICOTHE ROAD, CHAGRIN FALLS, OHIO 44023 Sunday, February 4th, 2024, from 2-5 PM. As a tribute to Liz’s radiant life, we welcome you to wear color and bring your children to fill the room with love and laughter.

Cremation and arrangements entrusted to DeJohn Funeral Home.
