ELIZABETH "BETTY" A. TOMKALSKI (neé Kunecki) age 86, beloved wife of Robert "Bob" R. Tomkalski for 67 years; loving mother of Gary Tomkalski, Nicole Pelto, and the late John Matthew Tomkalski; devoted grandmother of Kaila and Anthony Joseph "AJ", cherished daughter of the late Matthew M. and Anna M. (neé Zebiegen) Kunecki; dearest sister of the late Harriette Konopka (husband Richard, deceased), George W. Kunecki, and three brothers who passed during infancy; dear aunt of Cyndi Konopka.
Elizabeth, best known to family and friends as Betty, was born on July 6, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from Notre Dame Academy, she and Bob exchanged vows on May 30, 1959. Nearly 67 years together brought many joys and heartaches. The loss of their son John was difficult, thus Betty valued every moment spent with Nicole and Gary. Strong in her faith, she was a longtime parishioner of St. Noel Catholic Church and served as a Sacristan. Though strong-willed, and often set in her ways, she was truly loving and caring. Betty enjoyed being a part of the Wickliffe Welcome Wagon and serving on the Deepwood Council. When she wasn't serving others, you could find her out in the yard tending to her flower beds. Betty loved planting flowers and maintained the garden to perfection. She was truly honored and proud to have received Wickliffe Yard of the Year. On April 26, 2026, Betty passed away leaving her family and friends cherishing her memory.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Betty to Deepwood Foundation, 8121 Deepwood Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060, by clicking HERE.
