Eugene J. "Skip" Smayda III

passed away Aug. 28, 2025, aged 86 years, beloved husband for 58 years to Patricia (nee Klein), dear father of Peter, Kristen Wise (John) and Phillip (Jennifer), loving grandfather of Thomas, Meghan and Daniel Wise, and Ella Smayda, cherished brother of Marilyn Kidd (deceased) (Thomas), David (Cynthia) and Connie Morgus (Bob), fond uncle and great uncle.

Skip was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Gesu School and Cathedral Latin High School, and then attended John Carroll University. Skip worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for 39 years and retired as a senior business sales representative. He achieved Liberty Leaders and Top Producers Club for 32 years and was also a Liberty Hall of Fame member. Skip was a dedicated family man and had many lifelong friendships. He is described as an "eternal optimist" by his loved ones. Skip enjoyed warm weather and loved spending time in Florida.

Contributions suggested to the Fr. McAuley Scholarship Fund for Gesu School.

Please meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, in the Marian Chapel of Gesu Catholic Church at 12 Noon. Interment following in Lake View Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of South Euclid.
