DR. GE JIN of Solon, Ohio passed away suddenly in the early hours of December 6th, 2025, at the young age of 68.
Dr. Jin was the son of Jin Zhen and Qian Qi Can, he was born in Nanjing China. From an early age, Dr. Jin was drawn to understanding the world around him. His unwavering curiosity led him down the path of academics where he would study molecular biology at the Nanjing Normal University in Nanjing, China. His love for cell biology led him to meet the love of his life and eventual wife, Rui Chen, who also studied biology. Ge would go on to earn his Doctorate in Cell Biology from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Jin served as a Professor of Medicine at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. His joy in his work and dedication to the pursuit of understanding drove him to devote his free time to his work. His long career was dedicated to improving the lives of others, advancing the field of cancer research and imparting his vast knowledge on a countless number of students and future researchers.
While the advancement of knowledge was always important to Ge, it wasn’t nearly as important as his family. What Ge worked hardest at was being an amazing husband to his wife Rui, father to his son Tim, father-in-law to his daughter-in-law Laura, and grandfather to his grandson Selden and granddaughter Mabel. There was not a single school event, grocery store trip, family trip, sit-down dinner, or chance to roll around on the ground with his grandkids that he missed. He defused many disagreements with his calm demeanor and levelheaded thinking, and if that failed, he was never afraid to use his sense of humor and goofiness to bring everyone together. He dedicated every visit with his grandchildren to playing with them and teaching them about the world around them. It is a small miracle that he was able to accomplish his ambitious research goals while still being inseparable from his wife and child. Dr. Jin truly modeled how much working hard and being present with the people around him can have a positive impact on the world.
Ge will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the countless people whose lives he has touched.
