GEORGE C. HANNA age 91,of Chagrin Falls, passed away on . beloved husband of Nancy Ruth (nee Warren); loving father of Lauren Hanna, MD (husband Michael DiPree), Kurt W. Hanna, Steven F. Miedema (wife Delma), James W. Miedema (wife Sharon) and the late Judith Ann Miedema (husband Richard Storm(deceased) and Scott C. Hanna (wife Cheryl); devoted grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 6; cherished son of the late Milton A. (deceased) and Erma (nee Gottwald); dearest brother of the late Milton A. Hanna (wife Ursula deceased); dear uncle, great-uncle and friend of many. U.S. Army Veteran.
George was born on August 31, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Orange High School, graduating in 1953. While attending Cornell University to obtain an engineering degree, he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi. In 1971, he founded Graphite Sales. Inc. The company was a pioneer in green, environmentally friendly products by re-machining broken graphite electrodes, a standard practice in today’s iron and steel industry.
He was a US Army Veteran and a proud member of The American Legion. He liked to spend time fishing and sailing on the water and was a member of the Mentor Harbor Yachting Club. His travels took him to over 100 countries and he documented this through his hobby of photography.
He was a loyal supporter of the Cleveland CAVS, Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
George will be remembered as a forward-thinking entrepreneur with a hard-working attitude but also a friendly, generous and devoted family man who made people laugh with his sense of humor.

Celebration of Life Service Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11AM at Garfield Memorial Church, 3650 Lander Rd., Pepper Pike, OH 44124. Private burial with Military Honors at Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of George at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) Thursday, December 4 from 1-4 and 5-7PM.
