GOLDIE M. WEISS (nee Markis) age 98, beloved wife for 72 years of the late Louis J.; cherished daughter of the late George and Anna (nee Kovari) Markis; dearest sister of the late George (wife Betty, deceased), Kornel (wife Irene, deceased), Milan, and Anne Salle (husband Frank, deceased); loving aunt, great-aunt and friend of many. She is survived by her canine companions Tory and Peppermint Patty.
Goldie was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 7, 1926, at St Anne's Hospital. She had a very happy childhood. She was the youngest of 5. At age 16, she worked as an aid at St. Luke's Hospital. Goldie graduated in June of 1944 from John Adams High School. She entered the Huron Road Hospital School of Nursing in September of 1944. During her last 6 months of training, she was sent to Crile Hospital in Parma to care for returning soldiers of WWII. She graduated in September of 1947 and worked in various nursing fields. Goldie married a wonderful husband on August 7, 1948. On June 1, 1953, she graduated from Ursuline College.
Goldie was a member of many clubs. She belonged to the Christ Child Society which she joined in 1986 and the monthly prayer groups of Fr. Caddy for over 30 years. Goldie and Lou were Eucharistic Ministers and belonged to the choir at St. Clare Catholic Church. They had a very wonderful and loving marriage and made sure to tell each other every day how much they loved each other. Goldie's hobbies included golfing, bowling, knitting and cooking new recipes. They traveled to many places including Europe, Asia, Hawaii, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, England, Hungary, Poland, Russia, France and Spain. They camped all across the US and Canada during the summer. Goldie also enjoyed going to the casino when not traveling. Goldie and Lou want to thank their many nieces and nephews for years of love and devotion.

Mass of Christian Burial Friday, March 7, 2025, at St. Clare Catholic Church 5659 Mayfield Rd, Cleveland, OH 44124 at 1:30 PM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Goldie at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) THURSDAY 3 - 7 PM.
