Helen H. MacIntyre

July 16, 1943 — July 16, 2025

HELEN HILDA MACINTYRE (nee Asboth) age 82, beloved wife for 28 years of the late Charles MacIntyre; dear aunt of Kelly, Lori, Sabrina, and Lisa; daughter of the late Hilda (nee Nick) and Joseph Asboth; family to Sandy and Tom.

Helen was born on July 16, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up, she spent many happy weekends helping her uncle on his Chardon farm that sold fruits and vegetables. She later inherited the 1834 farmhouse and lovingly cared for it. Helen and her mom ran a successful estate sale business for years. They enjoyed traveling together and were able to return to Hungary to explore their Hungarian heritage. Helen had a life-long love of reading. She counted Louis Armour among her favorite authors. Helen was also a born storyteller weaving together colorful tales about places and people in her travels.

In 1988, Helen married the love of her life, Charles. She and Charles spent many hours hiking, camping, fishing, and capturing the majesty of nature in photographs. They traveled extensively within the U.S. and parts of Canada and Europe. Together they worked on the farmhouse, restoring its orchard and revamping its gardens to reflect beauty and solace. Helen would harvest the black walnuts to make candy. While frequenting a local restaurant for breakfast, they met Sandy and adopted her and husband Tom as family, eagerly participating in their family functions.

Helen and Charles collected wonderful artifacts ranging from Native American to Asian pieces, porcelains, glass, tapestries, and handcrafted items. The two loved visiting garage sales to hunt for new pieces or to shop for a friend (e.g., cute baby clothes). When not antiquing, you could find them selling at local flea markets. Helen specialized in offering unique costume jewelry to repeat customers.

Being outdoors, caring for animals, spending time with family - these were the simplicities of life that Helen most enjoyed. On July 16, 2025, the day of her birthday, Helen reunited with Charles. She will be remembered for her loving and giving nature to everyone she met.
