Hiroko Lasher (nee Mori), born July 23, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Her life took her far from her birthplace, beginning a long journey marked by resilience and a strong love for life.

Hiroko and her husband, Robert J. Lasher, welcomed their first son while living in Japan. In 1959, they moved to Marshalltown, Iowa, where they continued to grow their family with three more children. In 1969, the family relocated to South Euclid, Ohio, where their youngest child was born. They later settled in Chardon, Ohio, where they have lived for the past 33 years.

Hiroko approached life with steadiness and determination. She enjoyed playing tennis at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club and spent many hours tending to her gardens. She especially loved her irises and took pride in growing vegetables each year. Skilled with her hands, she was both an artist and a seamstress. Wearing her homemade costumes, her children were often the recipients of "first prize" awards at many Halloween contests.

Her Japanese heritage remained important to her throughout her life. She passed down Japanese traditions such as cooking, origami, traditional dances and karaoke. These shared activities became a meaningful link between generations and a tribute to where she came from.

Hiroko was a loyal and faithful Catholic. To all who knew her, Hiroko was outgoing and genuinely social-someone who made friends wherever she went. She had a warm, approachable nature that drew people in. She will be remembered for her creativity, thoughtfulness and generous soul.

Hiroko will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her memory will remain a blessing to those who loved her.

The family wants to acknowledge and thank the wonderful angels who assisted with Hiroko's care, especially Kay Rado, Meghan and Haley Hoynes, Christina McIlroy, Mary Slaubaugh, Marcella Russell, and the team from Hospice of the Western Reserve
