Ivan Brdar

Ivan Brdar age 84, beloved husband for 22 years of Slavica “Louise” (nee Sef); loving father of Leo Dejak (Tamara) and Irene Dejak-Hollingsworth (Chuck Hollingsworth); devoted grandfather of Sierra Heather, Caitlyn Mauck, Eva and Elle Hollingsworth; cherished son of the late Stipan and Marija (nee Gelo) Brdar; dearest brother of the late Jozo, Andja, Milka, Mio, and Slavka; dear uncle of many. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Ivan to St. Paul Croation Church.  

Ivan was born on January 6, 1940, in Croatia.  He emigrated to the Cleveland area where he would spend a long career working for General Motors.  Ivan liked to spend time watching soccer and playing in his younger years, along with cheering on Cleveland sports.  He also enjoyed cooking and was known for a few special dishes.  Ivan was a true family man enjoying family dinners with his wife, children and grandchildren.  Those that were lucky enough to know him would say he was someone that was known for his sense of humor and was always ready with a joke.  Ivan was also known for his generosity to his family and community.  He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. 

Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Ivan at St. Paul Croatian Church 1369 E. 40th Street, Cleveland on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 9-10AM. Mass of Christian Burial at the Church at 10 AM.  Entombment following at All Souls Cemetery.
