JAMES P. FARMER, JR. age 74, beloved husband for 50 years of Nancy (nee Pfeiffer); loving father of Jim, Rob (Ashley), and Justin (Danielle); devoted grandfather of Lane, Gavin, Noah, and Wyatt; cherished son of the late James and Serene (nee Harrell); dearest brother of Serene, Beth Amer (Ham), Tom (Cindy), and Sharon Schoneman (Steve); treasured brother-in-law of Mary and Jeff Levine, Eileen and John Cortelli, and the late Dave Plucinsky; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Jim was born on March 24, 1951, and passed away on May 14, 2025. He was an attorney who graduated from Cleveland Heights High School, Ohio University, and Cleveland Marshall Law School. Jim was a member of the Rotary of Cleveland and Cleveland Bar Association, and also served as Chairman of the P&Z Committee of Mayfield Village. He was a wonderful husband and father who never missed one of his sons’ sporting events. Jim was a talented athlete himself who passionately played rugby for many years. His hobbies included working out, outdoor activities, and hanging out with his buddies. Jim was the founder of Ohio University Rugby, and also involved in the starting of various other sports organizations in the greater Cleveland area. Jim would talk to anybody and made friends with everybody he met. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed time spent with family and friends and was known for his sense of humor and as a man who never complained. He was a man of faith who loved the Lord. All who had the pleasure of knowing and loving Jim will miss him immensely.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Jim to the 1964 Rugby Foundation, C/O Jack Nece - Treasurer, 1812 Maynard Ave, Cleveland, OH 44109 or to Mayfield Church, 7747 Mayfield Rd, Chesterland, OH 44026. Celebration of Life Service Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11 AM at Mayfield Church. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jim at the Mayfield Village Community Room, 6621 Wilson Mills Rd, Mayfield Village, FRIDAY EVENING FROM 5-8 PM.
