JAMES CONO ONORATO, age 69, beloved husband for 8 years of Karen (nee McDevitt); loving father of Matthew and Megan; step-father of Sarah Nickodem (husband Robert), Megan Vedda (husband Phil); devoted grandfather of Maggie, Josie, Olivia and Grace; cherished son of Cono and the late Jean (nee Lauria); dear brother of Salvatore (wife Sandie), Richard (wife Kathy) and Ronald (Fiancée Mary Regalbuto); dear uncle and great uncle to many; former husband of Cindy (husband Jim Micali); treasured son-in-law of Terry and the late Chuck Lentini.
Born and raised in Lyndhurst and Pepper Pike, Jim was a proud 1974 graduate of Orange High School and a 1978 graduate of The Ohio State University. Jim spent his career as a financial advisor – a role that perfectly suited his passion for guiding and supporting others. He always had a natural gift for helping others feel secure, understood and cared for.
Jim was known for his kind-hearted spirit, his humor and the joyful energy he brought everywhere he went. He loved entertaining family and friends, traveling to new places, rewatching his favorite movies, and creating moments that brought people together. He enjoyed going to Playhouse Square to see a show. He loved Cleveland sports and especially spending a summer evening at a Guardians game. Jim was a good friend and mentor to many.
He was happiest when surrounded by his family, celebrating life’s simple and special moments. Giving back was woven into who he was, whether through advice, acts of generosity or his steady presence.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, laughter, and genuine love for life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
