Jane J. Gladish

December 26, 1932 — December 24, 2025

JANE J. GLADISH (nee Saramak) age 92, beloved wife for 62 amazing years to the late Gerald; passionately devoted mother of Michael (wife Deborah), Thomas (wife Holly), Jeffrey (wife Susan), Kevin (wife Tracey); loving grandma of Gregory (wife Lacy), Stephen (wife Bethany), Ryan (wife Monica), Emily and Kristen and great-grandmother of Harper, Noah, Lucas and Chloe; cherished daughter of the late Jozef and Antonina (nee Kubicki) Saramak; dearest sister of the late Stanley, Theodore and Frank Saramak (wife Francis deceased), Sophie Jajola (husband Steve deceased), Helen Bodnar (husband Eugene deceased) and Joseph Saramak (deceased); dear aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Jane's parents arrived from Poland in the early 1900s, through Ellis Island, settling in the Slavic village area of Cleveland, Ohio. Her father, Jozef, fought in World War I and worked in the steel mills. English was the second language spoken in her home; with all her aunts, uncles and grandparents across the ocean in Poland, the family assimilated into the neighborhood and church as best it could.

Jane attended St. Stanislaus school in Cleveland, OH. She followed her passion after high school and worked as a seamstress, also teaching sewing at Singer Sewing Centers; she sewed the most amazing outfits for herself and loved ones - holes in socks or jeans were never a worry for her children. She soon met the love of her life, Gerald Gladish, and enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage, often traveling with family and friends to Hawaii, Mexico, Aruba, England, Hilton Head, the Grand Canyon, California and more.

She impeccably trained the many dogs that graced the Gladish household over the years: Cleo, Dapper, Sparky, Willie, Jeeter and "Mr. Frisky" and regarded them as members of the family with many home-cooked meals, seats at the dinner table and speaking lessons. Kooter, the cat, kept her company frequently and they both enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders in her front and backyard.

Jane's family, her greatest love and passion, encouraged and inspired her professional career, which restarted at John Carroll University, University Heights, OH, where she loyally worked in several positions in the business office for over 25 years. The staff nurtured her faith, and Father Bukala assisted her in translating letters received from family in Poland; she was a devoted parishioner of St. Rita parish in Solon, OH.

Jane loved her garden and flowers; she often created beautiful arrangements and centerpieces for family and friends. She enjoyed golfing with friends and bowling with her husband and children; she enthusiastically followed the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians - luckily, she was never a Browns fan. Jane belonged to the Red Hat Society for many years and the Empty Nesters group in Twinsburg, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Jane to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice Care Center to Cleveland Clinic Foundation, P.O. Box 931517, Cleveland, OH 44193-1655.
