Janusz Majewski

Janusz Majewski, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on May 22, 1937, in Warsaw, Poland, Janusz lived a life defined by resilience, dedication, and quiet joy.

He was the son of the late Wacław Majewski and Zofia Pawłowska Ilem. His early years spent on a farm remained among his most cherished memories. He served honorably in the Polish Army, fulfilling his duty with pride and a deep sense of responsibility. In the 1970s, he made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and the pursuit of simple pleasures.

A skilled mechanic by trade, Janusz worked tirelessly with his hands and heart, earning the respect of all who knew him through his integrity, humility, and dedication.

Janusz was a man of many passions. An avid reader, he constantly sought knowledge and reflection through the written word. He found peace in nature - especially while fishing, tending to his garden, or feeding the birds he loved to watch. His yard flourished with vegetables and flowers, with roses being his favorite. He grew them with care and often brought fresh-cut roses to his beloved wife, a quiet but enduring expression of his love.

He was also known for his remarkable skill in smoking meats - a craft he perfected and shared generously with those he loved. His quiet strength and warm presence made any gathering around his table feel like home. Though a man of few words, he often spoke with a dry wit and humor that especially came alive around the poker table with his grandsons.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Fira Majewski; his loving daughter, Ivona Acevedo, and her husband, Mark Acevedo; and his cherished grandchildren, Nicole Simpson and her husband Daniel Simpson, Gabrielle Acevedo, Ashley Majewski, and Joshua Majewski - each of whom brought light to his later years. He was preceded in death by his son, Jack Majewski.

Janusz's legacy is one of quiet strength, deep love for his family, and a life lived with perseverance. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held with details to follow for those wishing to honor his memory.
