JoAnn C. O'Connell

April 22, 1941 — April 25, 2026

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of JoAnn O’Connell on April 25, 2026, after a brief illness taking just one week.

JoAnn was the beloved wife of 63 years to Richard D. O’Connell, and a devoted mother to Richard M. “Rick” (Herbee) O’Connell and Kelly (Byron) Wasko. She was preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Sherri DiPietro. She leaves her adored grandchildren Gianna Marie (Koty) Dudman, Max Thomas (Marina DeLeeuw), Sam O’Connell (Reyna Bonano), and Nick and Alex Wasko; her brother Sam (Debbie) Fratantonio; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was the devoted daughter of the late Sam and Josephine (nee Colosi) Fratantonio.

Born on April 22, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, JoAnn dedicated her life to her family as a proud stay-at-home mother. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved, always making sure everyone was well fed, comfortable, and surrounded by warmth. A devoted dog lover, she adored and spoiled her pets just as she did her family. She lived many years of her life in Chesterland and Highland Heights and enjoyed her part-time work for over 20+ years at Borally’s in Richmond Heights.

JoAnn will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her. She was selfless, loving, and “the hub” of the family. There was nothing she would not give to or do for her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those that love and adore her.
