John A. Paolone

JOHN A. PAOLONE, age 68; beloved husband for 45 years of Donna (nee Suszek); loving father of Laurie Camerieri (husband Michael), Lisa Taflinger (husband Travis), and Lindsey Lehmann (husband Andrew); devoted grandfather of Caleb, Micah, Lia, Bella, Olivia, and Zoey; cherished son of the late Angelo and Terri and son-in-law of Jean Suszek and the late Henry Suszek; dearest brother of Sharon Schuttenberg (husband Ed, deceased), Angelo (wife Robin), Billie Cores (husband Bill), and the late Tommy; dear brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle of many.

John A. Paolone entered into his Heavenly home on August 18th, 2022 surrounded by his family who loved and adored him greatly. He was a loving husband to Donna and a devoted father to Laurie, Lisa, and Lindsey. John was especially a proud and doting grandfather.

John was born on January 8th, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio. He raised his family in Mentor, Ohio, and lived there until his passing. For over 20 years, he was a hard-working and fearless Iron Worker who contributed to many of the skyscrapers, bridges, and even a rollercoaster in the Cleveland area. John later switched careers and worked at Dominion Energy where he became a supervisor and retired after 25 years.

His ability to lead was seen both on the job and in his personal life while he served as Deacon, Benevolence Director, Usher, and Men’s Ministry Director at his church. And as much as he led, he served. Wherever he saw a need, he would find a way to meet it. Whether it was for the widow nearby, a friend in need, or on a mission trip abroad, John was there.

John would often spend his time building tree houses, American Girl doll bunk beds, and other requests that made his grandchildren’s dreams come true. He loved to garden and make pasta and pizza with his family. He was never happier than when his wife, children, and grandchildren were all together, and you would hear him say, “My quiver is full.”

A man of great faith, John will be missed by many.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of John on MONDAY 5-8 PM at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) and on TUESDAY 11 AM until TIME OF SERVICE at Calvary Assembly of God, 28870 Chardon Rd, Willoughby Hills. Celebration of Life Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 12 NOON. Private Burial at Mentor Cemetery.
