John was born on September 29, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon graduating from St Joseph High School, he attended Fenn College and the Cleveland Engineering Institute and completed brief stint in the Coast Guard Reserve. Husband, father, grandfather, friend, salesman, engineer, coach, and teacher, John was driven by his creativity and a desire to leave a piece of himself behind. John worked for Stanley M. Proctor Company for most of his career in hydraulic systems sales where he also taught fluid power hydraulics & pneumatic classes. John also coached for the Euclid City Youth Hockey. He assisted the CCD program at St. Paul’s Catholic Church and participated in the Marriage Encounter program with Karen.  John most recently was an active member of the St Paschal Baylon Men’s Bowling League.

John & Karen were high school sweethearts. They wed in 1963 and were blessed with 8 children and a loving marriage. John was passionate about learning, loved reading, teaching, and knew the importance of education. He proudly attended the college graduations of all 8 of his children. Most recently, John sought to pass on words of wisdom to his children, grandchildren and friends in daily missives. As a man of many words, endless stories, and talents, John was truly a great man whose legacy will forever be felt by those who loved him dearly. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, photography and other creative endeavors. He was a selfless man whose passing has left a hole in our hearts, but his hand-crafted and heart-inspired gifts will be forever cherished. Whether a custom-made trunk, a holiday ornament, a meaningful missive, a cherished story or memory etched on a heart, John sought to leave his mark on those whose lives he touched. His ability to love & support others will forever be lessons to all who loved him.

John died peacefully at his home Friday, August 27, 2021, surrounded by his family. He will be dearly missed but his love and example will be treasured for many lifetimes.
